My wife and I, probally more then we should, love going to the movies. We no longer have the time to see three in a row on a saturday after sneaking in. But if we get a baby sitter on a friday night, Outback steakhouse and a fun movie is our goal. I have repented and now pay for two tickets. I no longer dig in the trash for a empty bucket of pop corn to refill, or find large cups and clean them in the bathroom for the free trifecta. Gross! What was I thinking.

I read an article today about how sales of movies are down almost 50% of what they were in 2004. This really has been a bummer year for good movies. Despite a few exceptions, it has been slim pickings. Look what we have to choose from now. Brokeback Mountain, a movie about gay cowboys, Memoirs of a Gaisha, and Fraility, about the pitfalls of Cheating on your wife. The last Star Wars was fun, but not awesome. I missed Harry Potter so I could take my younger ones to Chicken Widdle. It was not that great. But I have enjoyed a few this year. Walk the Line was great. Totally enjoyed it. Even want to see it again. March of the penguins was very cool, but not what I want to see on a friday night on a big screen. I loved Batman begins, and the most anticipated movie for me this year, I have yet to see. Cinderella man. But nothing this year has broke into my all time top ten list. Who knows, Maybe Kong will be that movie, but I doubt it. And yes, I have seen Napoleon dynamite. But that movie is more fun to quote and talk about then it is to see it. I cant think of a sleeper for this year, Like School of Rock in 2003, or About a boy in 2002, and Gladiator in 2000. Can you?
